Wednesday, August 15th, 2007

There was a one-hour interview on CNBC with Warren Buffet, the second richest man who has donated $31 billion to charity. Here are some very interesting aspects of his life:

1.He bought his first share at age 11 and he now regrets that he  started too late!

2.He bought a small farm at age 14 with savings from delivering  newspapers.

3.He still lives in the same small 3-bedroom house in mid-town Omaha, that he bought after he got married 50 years ago. He says that he has everything he needs in that house. His house does not have a wall or a fence.

4.He drives his own car everywhere and does not have a driver or security people around him.

5.He never travels by private jet, although he owns the world’s largest private jet company.

6.His company, Berkshire Hathaway, owns 63 companies. He writes only one letter each year to the CEOs of these companies, giving them goals for the year. He never holds meetings or calls them on a regular basis. He has given his CEO’s only two rules.

Rule number 1: do not lose any of your share holder’s money.

Rule number 2: Do not forget rule
 number 1.

7.He does not socialize with the high society crowd. His past time after he gets home is to make himself some pop corn and watch Television.

8.Bill Gates, the world’s richest man met him for the first time only 5 years ago. Bill Gates did not think he had anything in common with Warren Buffet. So he had scheduled his meeting only for half hour. But when Gates met him, the
meeting lasted for ten hours and Bill Gates became a devotee of Warren Buffet.

9.Warren Buffet does not carry a cell phone, nor has a computer on his desk.

His advice to young people:”Stay away from credit cards and invest in yourself and Remember:

A.Money doesn’t create man but it is the man who created money.

B.Live your life as simple as you are.

C.Don’t do what others say, just listen them, but do what you feel good

D.Don’t go on brand name; just wear those things in which u feel comfortable.

E.Don’t waste your money on unnecessary things; just spend on them who really in need rather.

F.After all it’s your life then why give chance to others to rule our life.

Volatility is the name of the game

Saturday, August 11th, 2007

Volatility index, on Friday almost hit 30 intraday and closed out at 28.3. It’s over for now, at least in short term. Weak hands were shaken out not on Thursday when Dow dropped 387 points, but on Friday. However, be prepared for a rocky ride for another month.

Now what? Buy into big cap with foreign exposure, i.e. to hedge against dollar’s woe. If you have difficulty sleeping at nights these days, sell stocks until you feel comfortable. Don’t do anything, it’s not for you to handle.

Why don’t you sing with my beauty this month.

 The Gambler

If you sit by the poker table and cannot find a sucker, you are the sucker.

If you’re gonna play the game, ya gotta learn to play it right.
You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when youre sitting at the table. There’ll be time enough for counting when the dealing is done.

Eevry gambler knows that the secret to survivin Is knowing what to throw away and knowing what to keep.
Cause every hand is a winner and every hand is a loser,
and the best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep.

I did visit Chicken Ranch at Pahrump in Nye County… I chickened out…after a couple of drink. But I did get all the information Mike needs like “straight lay”, “half and half” and reverse “half and Half” ranginf $300 to $400. I didn’t enter the contract to buy them out; it changed hands at $5.2 million February last year.

Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

How much is enough?

Wednesday, August 1st, 2007

Both Dow and SP 500 made new all time high on July 19 and the trouble started shortly after that, July 24 to be exact. While the last official “correction” of at least 10% end in March 2003, the current drop is right in line with the periodic pullbacks we’ve had since then. The average percentage drop of all 5 major corrections since 2004 is 6.6%.

A 10% correction is likely this time when all said and done. We are facing the worst months, i.e. August and September. Subprime and credit crunch woe make this market look like those in 1997 and 1998. Go back and check those charts and market conditions then and you will have a better idea.

Sit tight! Going to have a rough ride.
